Mark Vogl, Lt. Cmdr. of the Texas Division, will be traveling to
Gettysburg to give a presentation on August 20th. His goal is to speak
in every state of the CSA and so far has not given a presentation in
the state of Virginia. If there is a camp in Virginia that has a
meeting around August 20th and would like to have a guest speaker,
please contact Lt. Cmdr. Vogl to see if he is available to attend your

Mark Vogl is a graduate of THE CITADEL, former Army combat arms
officer, college professor, political aide, and author. His wife
Barbara is a native Texan, a retired Lt. Col., U.S. Army, and grand
mother of ten!<br>
<br>
Mark’s first book, “Military Lessons of the Civil War,” was published
in the spring of 2007 and received the Jefferson Davis Historical Gold
medal from the United Daughters of the Confederacy. His second book,
published early in 2008, “The Rebel Mountain Reader,” is a book which
includes many of the presentations listed below, and more. His third
book “Dixie’s Greatest Secret, the Confederate States Navy” is
scheduled for publication by summer 2009. <br>

Mark is the great great grandson of Private David Parks Walter,
33rd North Carolina Volunteers, part of the famed Lane’s brigade,
Stonewall Jackson’s Corps, Army of Northern Virginia! Mark has been a
member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans since 1994, and was awarded
the Texas Division Confederate of the Year Award in 2009. Mark
presently serves as the 2nd Lt. Commander of the Texas Division.<br>
<br>
Mark has given presentations in nine states to dozens of groups
interested in the history of the South. He can make presentations as a
Confederate Infantry Captain serving in a North Carolina regiment, or
as a southern statesman / civilian, or in jacket and tie. Mark has
developed a number of formal presentations but would be open to
developing one especially for your organization given sufficient time.

time he could craft a story just for your group.<br>

reasons for General Lee’s decisions to conduct Pickett’s Charge on the
third day at Gettysburg. This presentation features a large full
color, three dimensional replica of the Gettysburg battlefield.<br>

Dixie’s Greatest Secret Supported by overhead projector and slides,
this presentation focus on the size, scope, and success of the
Confederate Navy. <br>

“I will pay that sum” Robert E. Lee, a bi-centennial presentation of
the man and the Christian. This presentation is based on the written
words of R.E. Lee himself, his youngest son, Captain Robert E. Lee,
C.S.A., and his nephew, General Fitzhugh Lee, C.S.A. It is intended to
introduce the real Marse Robert, the man.<br>

The Red River Campaign, 1864 This presentation discusses why the
campaign was conducted, and the general outline of the campaign.
Strategic aspects of the campaign are the central parts of this talk.<br>
<br>
Texas and the War for Southern Independence Discusses ten different
aspects of the War as it relates to Texas. Usually given to school
children.<br>
<br>
Jefferson Davis, American Patriot, American President A look at Jeff
Davis, and some startling facts you may not know about the South’s
wartime leader.<br>
<br>
Confederate Christmas This presentation focuses on Christmas in the
Confederacy during the years 1860 thru 1865.<br>
<br>
Democracy, Southern Style The Confederate Constitution is
significantly different from the Federal Constitution and anticipated
many modern day issues. <br>
