unfortunate that thoughtless individuals had nothing more constructive
to do with their free time than to vandalize and remove a political
sign </div>
<div>from a private Richmond area residence. In the least,
they ignored several of the basic constitutional freedoms that our
founding fathers fought and died </div>
<div>to preserve. They also displayed a profound ignorance and
disrespect for the heritage of all Southern people. </div>

Sons of Confederate Veterans is an international organization dedicated
to honoring the memory of our Southern ancestors. Our membership</div>
<div>includes
both black and white citizens of the Commonwealth, all sharing pride in
our rich heritage. Likewise, we take offense at mindless individuals</div>
<div>who
would distort history and the honor of our ancestors by using our
heritage symbols to spread the message of hate. Our members do not
condone</div>
<div>the inappropriate replacement of any political poster
or the misuse of our Confederate symbols and adamantly disassociate
ourselves from the </div>
<div>mentality of those who perpetrated this
offensive act. Further, the SCV sincerely hopes that those responsible
would come forth and offer an apology to </div>
<div>Reverend Mclaughlin. </div>
