[VAcourier] Update on the Preservation Fortress Monroe

To All Members of the Virginia Division and other interested persons:
 
 
Fortress Monroe is but a short distance from my home.  I have been 
involved with the situation since before I became Division Commander.  I 
have attended meetings and spoken on behalf of the Division and the 
overall SCV.  I have made it quite clear, that we will not stand by 
while this historic site is destroyed to make way for  "Casemate 
Condominiums".   The local community has also made it clear that they 
wish to see this historic site preserved. There are even plans to make 
this the 3rd site for the Museum of the Confederacy.  I have spoken with 
Executive Director Waite Rawls about this also.  I am glad to see 
that Compatriot Walter Tucker has just now realized that all this is 
taking place and that he is so greatly concerned about this. Perhaps we 
need to form a Committee to track this matter.  If Compatriot Tucker 
will accept, he can serve on or perhaps head this Committee.  Anyone 
else interested, please contact me.
