Dear Division Commanders of the ANV,

Please read the following post from CiC Sullivan and get this out as
quickly as possible to all of your Compatriots. We can make a difference
and wake the sleeping lion of Southern Heritage that lies in wait for
just such a chance.

Please let me know of some of your Division successes with this and
other matters.

I am,

Respectfully yours,

Michael Givens
Commander
Army of Northern Virginia

//
/From the Commander-in-Chief, Christopher M. Sullivan and the Heritage
Defense Committee/
**
*Compatriots *and Sons of Confederate Veterans,

We have won a partial, albeit significant victory against the NCAA. They
responded to the pressure placed on them by SCV members and other
proponents of Confederate heritage by not expanding the events ban in
South Carolina and Mississippi. Yet their rationale is hypocritical:

/"Since institutions do not have control over the placement of the
Confederate flag, the committee emphasized it was not fair to penalize
institutions and student-athletes who earn the right to host
non-predetermined championships in those states". /

This obviously begs the question, "What makes the primary ban fair?" The
NCAA still deserves to be taken to task over this issue.

Furthermore, you should know that NCAA President Myles Brand refused the
petition with your signatures that was sent to him in January. Since he
is so arrogant as to not even listen to us, it is time to make our case
with the public.

The NCAA's premier event, the Final Four of the men's basketball
tournament, is coming up March 31 - April 2 (IN ATLANTA). This is the
perfect opportunity to embarrass them.

We need to load all the daily papers in the South (and elsewhere if
possible) with letters to the editor. The following are examples of the
points to emphasize:

** The NCAA is practicing discrimination and economic blackmail against
South Carolina and Mississippi*
**
** The NCAA purports to be an advocate for minorities, but their actions
harm two states with high percentages of minority population*
**
** The NCAA has already been the subject of an inquiry by the US House
Ways & Means Committee for possible violations of their tax-exempt status*
**
** The NCAA is political correctness to the extreme; Confederate flag
issues, as well as mascot and logo issues show that no school or state
is beyond their reach*

_Timing is critical in this project -- the letters need to hit the
papers around the time of the Final Four. IMPORTANT: Letters sent by
mail need to be sent *ON THE 28th *. E-mail letters need to be sent *ON
THE 29th*. That gives us a little over a week to prepare our letters._

Also, please visit www.ncaainterference.org
<http://www.ncaainterference.org/>. The petition is new to reflect Phase
2 of this initiative.

Please pass this down the chain of command. Use all your resources, both
in and beyond the SCV. We need TONS of letters. Remember the dates;
don't send early -- our effectiveness is in getting these letters to hit
around the same time.
