Stratford Hall - the birthplace of Robert E. Lee is offering a Free 
Lecture Series to celebrate his 200th Birthday

R.E. Lee 1807-2007
Celebration of an American Icon

Join us as we celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Robert E. 
Lee at Stratford. 

January 20 at 7:30pm & January 21 at 2:00 pm
Professor James I. Robertson, Jr. of Virginia Tech and the Virginia 
Center for Civil War Studies will begin this special anniversary year 
series with the topic:
"Lee's Gift to Us"

February 17, 2:00 pm
Elizabeth Brown Pryor, author of a new book titled Reading the Man:  A 
Portrait of Robert E. Lee Through His Private Letters, will speak on 
"Robert E. Lee: New Documents and New Questions."

March 24, 2:00 pm
Mary P. Coulling, author of The Lee Girls, will give a talk titled:  
"Shadows and Mirrors:  Robert E. Lee and the Women He Cared Most About."

May 12, 2:00 pm
Professor Peter S. Carmichael from the University of North Carolina at 
Greensboro will present "Serving Robert E. Lee: Young Virginians in the 
Army of Northern Virginia."

August 11, 2:00 pm
Professor Richard McCaslin of the University of North Texas will give a 
lecture titled "A Bittersweet Coming of Age: Robert E. Lee in the 
Mexican War."

October 6, 2:00 pm
Marc Leepson, author of Saving Monticello, will draw from his 
forthcoming book a talk titled "Desperate Engagement: The July 9, 1864, 
Battle of Monocacy and Jubal Early's March on Washington."

This series is being sponsored in part by the Lee-Jackson Educational 
Foundation.  Reservations are required as seating is limited.  Please
