Special Message from the Commander-in-Chief 
 
Compatriots:
 
As you are certainly aware, 2007 is the bicentennial year of Robert E. Lee. 
 
As Sons of Confederate Veterans it is our duty to celebrate and commemorate
the birth of the Great Chieftain. 
 
Too often these days, the media and popular culture seek to portray Gen. Lee
as a personification of evil. Of course the opposite is true, but the truth
is rarely heard. In order to make sure the truth is heard, the SCV is
sponsoring a special edition of the Stephen D. Lee Institute this year which
will focus exclusively on Robert E. Lee. 
 
This special event will be Saturday, 28 April at Arlington, Virginia. 
 
The program will feature a stellar line-up of the best minds the South has
to offer. 
 
Presenters will include:
 
. ROBERT KRICK - Former historian at Fredericksburg National Battlefield
Park
 
. THOMAS DILORENZO - author of The Real Lincoln and Lincoln Unmasked
 
. KENT MASTERSON BROWN - author of Retreat From Gettysburg and The Civil War
in Kentucky
 
. JOHN J. DWYER - author of The War Between the States: America's Uncivil
War and R.E. Lee
 
. CLYDE WILSON - Distinguished Professor Emeritus of the University of South
Carolina and Dean of the SD Lee Institute and author of Defending Dixie:
Essays in Southern History and Culture
 
. DONALD LIVINGSTON - Professor of Philosophy at Emory University and
President of The Abbeville Institute. 
 
. TOM MOORE - Author of Hunt for Confederate Gold
 
This event will include all the speakers, a luncheon, and a banquet that
evening all in first-rate facilities. All of this is included in the
registration fee which is only $150.
