[VAcourier] Work day at Point Lookout Prison Camp on the Confederate Memorial Park

Russell Darden, Vice Chairman of the Point Lookout Prison Descendents Organization reports that the Confederate Memorial Park is nearing completion.  A work day is planned for September 15, 2007.  Russell and Chairman Jim Dunbar are requesting support from Camps of the Virginia Division to purchase wood mulch, bags of lime and portland cement and equipment rental.  They also need as many volunteers as can come with rakes, shovels and a wheelbarrow.


Those that can come Friday evening can stay at the Days Inn in Lexington Park, MD Friday night allowing for an early start Saturday morning, finishing about 4PM for the return home.  This workday should put the finishing touches on the memorial to those who were imprisoned at Point Lookout Prison Camp.
