Confederacy museum should die peacefully
Please don't move the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond. It would
appear that things are taking their natural course.
The museum is losing accessibility, patrons and money. Kept right where
it is, it will continue to decline, as it should, and in a decade or two
it will be completely bricked in and covered over with a layer or two of
dirt and asphalt.
Then, in a millennium or so, if we're still around and have, indeed,
evolved, people will rediscover it, peering into its dark depths as into
a time capsule and shake their heads in disbelief that such an
institution ever existed.
Let people honor their ancestors in their hearts, as they should, and
let the museum die a peaceful, natural death.
